Papaya Young Directors film competition is a project from Papaya Films in Poland. Throughout 5 years of the Papaya Young Directors contest, the PYD competition has been supported by 26 Sponsors and over 120 film and advertising experts as Jurors. Workshops with industry authorities, coaching sessions, over 4000 director’s treatments written and 81 films created, resulting in over 40 exceptional filmmaking talents introduced to the industry. Growing rapidly year-by-year, Papaya Young Directors proves that new and different voices are exactly what the creative community needs. Papaya Young Directors is the only competition for young film directors in Europe that facilitates direct access to the world of professional filmmaking.
The competition is targeted at students and graduates of film schools, as well as art schools, liberal arts schools, amateur filmmakers and people without a higher education between the ages of 20 and 35.

“Given a chance, young film creatives can achieve a lot. Some filmmaking talents need a little nudge, some – a little inspiration. That’s why for the past 5 years we have been extending Papaya Young Directors initiative and applying more educational approach. We are co-operating with 39 film and art schools, hosting workshops with advertising and film experts as well as coaching sessions with mentors. We travel around Poland with Papaya Films Creative Fridays, during which we explore various layers of creative process, inspire and give young people an impulse to think differently,” explains Kasia Siewko, Project Manager of Papaya Young Directors.
