Steelcase wurde von der Human Rights Campaign Foundation zum \u201cBest Place to Work for *LGBT Equality\u201d ausgezeichnet und erhielt 100 Prozentpunkte im Corporate Equality Index (CEI), der die Gleichstellungsrate von Homo-, Trans- und Intersexuellen bewertet, d.h. der LGBT-Vielfalt. Unter 517 bestplatzierten Arbeitgebern in den USA erzielte Steelcase ein Top-Ranking. Damit hat das Unternehmen innerhalb drei aufeinanderfolgender Jahre diese Top-Auszeichnung erhalten. Die sexuelle Orientierung von Mitarbeitern wird oft noch nicht als unternehmensrelevant gesehen, sondern eher als \u201ePrivatsache\u201c bezeichnet. Unternehmen erkennen mittlerweile allerdings, dass ein aufgeschlossener Umgang damit sowie eine offene Unternehmenskultur viel Motivation freisetzen. Au\u00dferdem \u00f6ffnet diese auch T\u00fcren zu neuen Talenten und Kundengruppen. Vor allem die Generation Y setzt einen offenen Umgang damit voraus.
